چکیده
In this paper, we propose a variation-based method to linearize the nonlinear dynamics of robotic systems, whose configuration spaces contain the manifolds S and SO(3), along dynamically-feasible reference trajectories. The proposed variation-based linearization results in an implicitly time-varying linear system, representing the error dynamics, that is globally valid. We illustrate this method through three different systems, a 3D pendulum, a spherical pendulum, and a quadrotor with a suspended load, whose dynamics evolve on SO(3), S, and SE(3) × S respectively. We show that for these systems, the resulting time-varying linear system obtained as the linearization about a reference trajectory is controllable for all possible reference trajectories. Finally, a Linear Quadratic Regulator (LQR)-based controller is designed to attenuate the error so as to locally exponentially stabilize tracking of a reference trajectory for the nonlinear system. Several simulations results are provided to validate the effectiveness of this method.

متن کاملTopology optimization of multi-track ring resonators and 2D microcavities for nonlinear frequency conversion.
We exploit recently developed topology-optimization techniques to design complex, wavelength-scale resonators for enhancing various nonlinear χ(2) and χ(3) frequency conversion processes. In particular, we demonstrate aperiodic, multi-track ring resonators and two-dimensional slab microcavities exhibiting long lifetimes Q≳104, small modal volumes V≳(λ/2n)3<...
متن کاملKerr nonlinearity and dispersion characterization of core-pumped thulium-doped fiber at 2 μm.
A nonlinear coefficient of 3.6-4.1 W-1 km-1 and group velocity dispersion of -20 ps2/km of a commercial core-pumped thulium-doped fiber have been evaluated using degenerate four-wave mixing at 2 μm. The anomalous dispersion behavior of the fiber has been confirmed by linear measurements with an all-fiber Mach-Zehnder interferometer (MZI). Additionally, no pum...

We give a proof that Total Variation {a,,(.)} < 1 can be replaced by Sup{u,(.)} e 1 in Glimm's method whenever a coordinate system of Riemann invariants is present. The argument is somewhat simpler but in the same spirit as that given by Glimm in his celebrated paper of 1965. 0 1990 Academic Press, Inc. We consider the Cauchy problem u, + F(u), = 0, (1) 4-G 0) = u,(x), (2) where (1) denotes a s...
